Retinol — A vitamin-A derivative that speeds cell turnover — the best-evidenced ingredient for fine lines and texture over months of nightly use. The label states 0.3%. Works from ~0.3%. OTC cap 1%. Give it 12 weeks minimum; best gains around 6 months. Best for Oily, Combination, Normal. Powerful but irritating early on. Oily and normal skin adapt fastest; dry and sensitive skin should start low and buffer with moisturiser. Mid-value: beats 50% of the 5 Retinol serums that state their strength.
